14. Egression

Ripple: Egression
This was bad, and Sienna knew it. Without hesitation, she grabbed David, the strange man grabbed the book. They propelled themselves towards the back door of the cabin.
Sienna could hardly feel her legs move. It was as if she were floating and everything around her was straining to move forward in time.
A loud, deep, whooshing sound soon became almost deafening. It sounded like a train approaching and it shook the cabin, rattling items off the walls and tables.
The terrified group hadn’t made it twenty yards outside before the cracking of wooden beams and the shattering of glass slammed into them like an avalanche of sound from behind. A racing cloud of dust and debris soon outpaced them and engulfed them in a storm of haze.
