13. …or die

Ripple: ...or die
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the man stepped forward. He was dressed in a suit and long black trench coat, with a black hat sitting neatly on his head. The shadow from the light above caste a shadow that obscured his face, but one could still make out that he was wearing glasses.
The man lowered the hand that was carrying the strange half-human device to his side. The grey-ish fingers opened flaccidly as its center of gravity shifted and a lone drop of blood gently snaked down the side before gracefully releasing itself to the floor.
With his other hand, the man reached out palm-up to Sienna and stated in a slow and almost soothing voice “You and the boy must come with me now or die. We haven’t a moment to lose. Please trust me.”
An ominous rumble was getting loader in the distance from through the opened door and a gust of wind blew in. The lights flickered. “We must leave now!” The man’s voice had lost a bit of its calm.
